And we landed on the moon
It was a majestic moment at 6:04 pm yesterday when Chandrayaan 3 landed on the moon. At 5:45 PM as Abhishek left my office, I put on the headphones and opened the ISRO live stream on my laptop along with Aajtak on the other screen.
The heartbeat rose significantly as the clock stuck 6:00, the countdown to the touchdown was just breathtaking, as the lander descended to 3 KM from its orbit, I had my eyes on the horizontal and the vertical velocities. As the News anchor announced that the velocity was decreasing but the screens were showing it increasing my heart skipped a beat but then it went down as per the plan and the descent started in the planned manner.
The lander came near to the moon's surface and it was just 150 meters left, In another 1 minute India was going to write History, Crores of Indians were glued to their TV sets, mobiles, laptops and radios to witness this historic feat.
Another minute it went down to 33 m and the velocity down to 2m/s and in a flash, the ISRO control room broke into applause and it was the signal that India had touched the moon, stylishly. The tears that fell during 2019 from Dr. Sivan's eyes, had their answers in this achievement. India rose to clap for the brilliant scientists who have again filled up the Indians with Amazing pride, India is now the first country to land on the South pole of the moon.
Today morning, as decided earlier, I bought all the Newspapers just to read about Chandrayaan 3.
In 2019 it was a heartbreak moment for me when I had read about the C2 crash as I woke up the next morning of the scheduled landing, as the landing was planned for midnight. I had slept in anticipation that the Newspapers would write about the glory the next day, but it was a heartbreak for me when I opened in shorts in the morning and the first news was about the crash.
Today, all that has vanished and am in love with this day cause it's like a 1969 moment for us the Indians. The rocket up in the sky and the rover on the moon will continue to Motivate us to dream big and aspire to achieve them. Nothing is impossible. To end this piece, i am using the best Ad from Amul to celebrate this grand feat.
